Support Westerly Library and Wilcox Park

Support our Annual Fund!

“Strengthen the community and enrich lives” is a key component of Westerly Library and Wilcox Park’s mission statement.  It guides our development of programs, facilities and services.

Some highlights from those developments include:

  • Story Time for parents and children in our Children’s Room
  • A safe place for teens to gather and relax, do their homework or join their peers in a wide range of educational programs in the Teen Room
  • Programs including book and chess clubs, computer classes, knitting and writing workshops
  • Monthly art exhibitions in the Hoxie Gallery by local artists
  • Modern technology equipment for our patrons to use in our Makers Space and Computer Lab
  • Our Park which provides a venue for a relaxing stroll, our Garden Market Fair and other treasured summer community events

Westerly Library and Wilcox Park draw over 250,000 people every year — each person coming for his or her own special interests.

As a non-municipal institution, it is only with the help of our donors that we are able to continue to develop programs, facilities and services that meet the diverse needs of our community.

In fact, 60% of our operating budget comes from donations by supporters like you!

Together we can continue to make a lasting impact on our community!  Thank you!

Additional Ways to Give

Become a Sustaining Member

Make donations monthly to Westerly Library and Wilcox Park

IRA Direct Transfer

Donors age 70 1/2 and up can direct money be transferred directly from their IRA to a qualified charity such as the Library and Park.  That amount does count towards the donor's minimum distribution, but no federal income tax is due on the distribution.  This is a unique, tax-wise way to support Westerly Library and Wilcox Park.

Donating Securities

Gifts of Securities are welcome. Donors who donate securities that have been held for more than one year will generally receive a charitable tax deduction for the full fair market value of the securities, and avoid capital gains taxes on the appreciation of the assets over their original cost bases. Please be sure to consult with your financial or tax advisor for specific tax information when giving securities.

Planned Giving

Various types of planned gifts are possible, ranging from a simple bequest in a will or revocable trust to charitable trusts and gifts from retirement plans. An effective gift plan may increase your current income or provide retirement income, while earning a current tax deduction and providing for a future gift to the Memorial and Library Association of Westerly.
