The Memorial and Library Association of Westerly is s seeking a dynamic, creative individual to assist the YA Librarian in a busy Teen Space. The Young Adult Associate will assist in planning, preparing, and implementing programs for young adults (grades 6-12); creating and maintaining displays; shelving, shelf-reading, and weeding of Young Adult Collections; and provide outreach programming for young adults. Additional duties may include supervising volunteers, providing computer assistance to patrons, enforcing library policy and assisting in other library departments as needed.

Hours and Pay:

Starting rate is $15.58 per hour. 25 hours per week. Will be required to work some nights and Saturdays.

Westerly Library and Wilcox Park seeks a creative, energetic, ambitious, and dedicated full-time Young Adult Librarian to plan, direct, and implement all of the Library’s young adult services. The Young Adult Librarian will also conduct outreach to build a strong understanding of the breadth and scope of teen offering. Working with other departments, this position will help create new and exciting teen programs and partnerships as well as develop community-wide collaborations and outreach efforts while promoting community awareness of teen services.  The YA Librarian is also responsible for preparing, monitoring, and administering the young adult budget as well as all collection development, programs, and services as they relate to teens, parents, and teachers of the community.  

Salary commensurate with experience. Benefits included. Schedule will include some evenings and Saturdays.

The Memorial and Library Association of Westerly seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and community minded para-professional for a new, part-time Development Specialist position. The Memorial and Library Association, established in 1892, oversees Westerly Library and Wilcox Park and directly serves the communities of Westerly RI and Stonington, CT.  The Association is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization whose mission is to strengthen the community and enrich lives by stimulating intellect and sparking imagination through access to literature, information, nature, and the arts.

The Development Specialist is responsible for all administrative aspects of development and public relations activities. The Development Specialist plays an important role by providing administrative support to the Development Office and participating in all fundraising activities including donor and public relations, direct mail appeals, and special events.

20 hours per week. Evening and weekend hours may be required.


  • Associate's degree in a related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Knowledge of fundraising and relationship management solution. Knowledge of Blackbaud Raiser’s Edge/NXT preferred.
  • Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work
  • Ability to work independently with little supervision
